Reportage from the Free Photographic Omnibus, 1973-1974

While living on the bus I would ask my visitors — those who posed for their photographs as well as those who came along out of curiosity — to suggest subjects for my camera, people or events I might photograph within walking or cycling distance of where the bus was parked up.

There were also occasions when I needed a break from the intensity of always being on show and — finding a secluded lay-by, the forecourt of a disused filling station or a quiet coach park, somewhere where I could leave the bus safely for a day or two — I'd take off into the unknown.

And so these pictures were made.
